What’s been going on for me? #

Work #

At the beginning of the year, I opened my doors at Prism Counseling, my small counseling clinic. I offer compassion-focused, affirming therapy for members of the LGBTQ+ community, nonmonogamous and/or kinky people, and anyone who feels like an outsider.

I make Netrunner. I’m still part of Null Signal Games, currently as a Lead Brief Editor for the Visual team and a Narrative Designer for the Narrative team.

Family #

Our daughter, L, is 2 years old and is an absolute light. She currently loves having picnics with her stuffed animals, squishing Play-Doh around, and telling us exactly what to do.

My wife, R, continues to manage a local newsroom. When the stars align, we like to steal away and go bouldering together at a local bouldering gym, which I’ve discovered I really enjoy! It’s spring, too, which means we’re planting our garden and continuing our long quest to replace our yard.

Hobbies #

Well, I’ve been working on getting a certain website up and running. (coughcough)

At the end of last year, I retired my old home server setup, aiming to replace it with something (a) more powerful, and (b) built on Docker instead of YunoHost. I’m still in the middle of the looooong process of getting different services set up and debugged, but progress is being made, however slowly. I’m excited about having a more sturdy server that I can share with family and friends, although I’m also already thinking about the v3.0 revision—the idea of a compact, power-efficient build is like a siren song…

Last year, I started dabbling with learning to solder and building small electronic hobby projects around ESP32 boards. I have a couple projects I want to complete—retrofitting an ESP32 and an LED ring into a cloud-shaped wall lamp in L’s room, and building an NFC tag scanner/audio player like Juuke and TagTuner—but they’re both going to require some 3D modeling chops that I’m still working to develop.

I recently allowed myself to get sucked back in to the black hole that is playing Minecraft. Seems like that happens every couple of years.
